October 1st, 2018 pt. 1/2- First Day! Airport hopping and touching down in Lima

I woke up a little early this morning and tried to go back to sleep but the anticipation of flying and double checking on my packed suitcase was too much.. it's better just to wake up and make sure you have everything you need as it is your last chance to bring something you might forget.
I arrived at the airport and made sure everything was in order. Oops I forgot my cell phone charger at home. I bite the bullet and pay $24.99 for a 2.4 amp micro USB/C charger. Not too lousy for an airport gift shop.

Some stretching and calisthenics were necessary before being cattled into the cramped economy cabin. I always try to make myself as comfortable as possible when travelling for a long period of time. Stretching before sitting for a long time can reduce the tension and relieve the feeling of wanting to kick out your legs. After travelling over 200 hours between the US and PerĂº I have learned that a good music playlist and some comfortable IEMs(in ear monitors) for the audiophile can make flying more enjoyable and cancel out cockpit noise and other passengers.
After landing in Houston, I had only 15 minutes from the time of exiting the plane to boarding the next flight to Lima. Fortunately or unfortunately, that flight was delayed by 30 minutes which gave me time to grab some Wendy's chicken nuggets and a bottle of water. Sometimes layovers between flights are so short you only have time to walk to the gate of your connecting flight.

I'm glad I made the right choice on the vegetarian pasta meal after having picked that terrible chicken mixed with plantain the last 2/3 times. This was actually pretty good and I didnt have any trouble eating it. Later I watched a very intriguing documentary about the top ramen chefs in Japan and the culture of ramen that we do not fully understand beyond the restaurants that either imitate or come here from Japan with the intent on giving that experience but fall short.
The 80s coming of age teenage drama movie "Lucas" got a few good audible laughs out of me too. Watch the movies and entertainment they provide you on these boring flights as it helps the time pass.
Enough of that dreadful plane, I landed in Lima a little late this morning and finally got out of the airport after midnight. So I'm lacking some good photos but tonight's post should be more interesting. I'll be updating everyone too on my quest to buy a local surfboard shape. I'll probably be checking out klimaxsurf.com in Miraflores as they are the premier shaper in the area with a lot of boards out in the water at any given time. Shout out to my family and especially all my friends who I surf with in OB. Thanks Joey for getting me back into this, I really dont think I would have been so stoked on surfing if I didnt paddle out with you initially after a long hiatus.
Here's a tune for the trip.
